Big Bang kicks off their Japan tour

Yesterday and earlier today, Big Bang kicked off their Japan tour titled “BIGBANG presents ‘Love & Hope Tour 2011′” with their first two showy concerts at the Osaka Jo Hall in Osaka.

Pillars of fire, an explosion and then the curtains rose for a thrilling and fun ride featuring a performance total of 24 songs. V.I (Seungri) greeted their Japanese fans, “How are you!? Various terrible things happened since we came here from Korea, but we promised those concerts to you and that’s why we are still here!” The atmosphere among the 9,000 fans immediately reached its climax thanks to those words.

The five members of Big Bang see the tour as a way to show their support for the reconstruction after the tragic Tohoku earthquake. Unfortunately a lot of their Korean fans were too worried about their idols and even started a petition with more than 7,500 signatures, asking their agency to not let them go to Japan at all. However, the group decided that it’s more important to keep their promise they made to their Japanese fans back in February of 2010, when they announced this Japan tour.

On May 2nd, the group arrived in Japan and soon after that member G-Dragon uploaded a clip onto the Internet, assuring everyone that it is safe in Japan. Before today’s concert they also had a few minutes to talk with the press and G-Dragon commented, “With our presence here we want to let everyone know that it’s safe. I’d like the Korean people to join us and walk the road of reconstruction together with the Japanese.” He continued, “We also received fan-letters from people living in areas struck by the earthquake and tsunamis. If we get the time and chance, we’d like to go and visit those places.”

Big Bang’s Japan tour will continue through three cities, adding up to eight concerts in total and at least 102,000 happy Japanese fans.

Girl Generation Japan Tour Attracts 300,000 People

There are already early signs of the success of Girls' Generation's Japan concert tour.

The group's first arena concert tour in Japan is gaining much attention for attracting close to 300,000 applicants for tickets. After such heated response, SM Entertainment decided to include 3 more additional concerts, so a schedule for 10 performances in 6 cities was confirmed.

Starting May 31st and ending on July 17th, the concert arena tour venues will include Tokyo, Osaka, Saitama, Nagoya, Fukuoka and Hiroshima. The Girls' Generation craze in Japan is expected to continue, with a total of 100,000 people estimated to attend the tour.

Girls' Generation held their first solo concert in Seoul and Shanghai last year, showing off their live performances as well as showcasing the attractive members and their colorful stages. Their influence that is fast spreading throughout Asia and beyond confirms the positive reactions from fans. There is much anticipation for the group's first arena tour in Japan, and there are high expectations from fans now more than ever.

On April 27th, Girls' Generation released their Japanese single, 'MR. TAXI', which peaked 1st at Japan's biggest mobile ringtone download chart, Rekochoku.

G-Dragon speaks out ahead of Japan tour

Korean boy band Big Bang embark on a tour of Japan from May 10 to 18, taking in Osaka, Nagoya and Chiba. It is the first large-scale concert by Korean musicians in Japan since the deadly earthquake and tsunami hit the island.

Some fervent fans of Big Bang have started a signature campaign to prevent their trip to "such a dangerous place." But Big Bang's leader G-Dragon on Friday said, "We couldn't call off concerts scheduled well in advance as Japanese culture takes promises very seriously, however grave the circumstances are." The 23-year-old pop icon is especially loved by teenagers and people in their early 20s.

Since their debut in 2006, Big Bang's songs have repeatedly reached the top of online and offline K-pop charts. Most of their major hit songs were written, composed, and produced by G-Dragon, who is also a fashionista, placing him in a different league from members of other manufactured bands, who are mainly chosen for their looks.

G-Dragon said he likes being a singer the most. "I find it most thrilling, no matter what reviews I get. I'm 23 now, and I think I spent half of my life practicing. I believe a pagoda built over 10 years takes 10 years to crumble, and one that took five years to build takes five years to crumble. Since I practiced for 10 years, I think I can go on for at least another 10 years."

When asked what the biggest concern is to him at the moment, G-Dragon said, "I try to live worry-free. For the next five years I have nothing to worry about. I have a contract with my agency and I have things to do. But if I have to pick one, then I worry about what I will have to do five years from now.

"Even after my current contract runs out, I may remain as a composer with YG [his agency], but I'm less confident about maintaining my popularity as a singer once I'm over 30. Popularity is so volatile and can vanish in a second. So I believe I shouldn't worry too much about how to stay popular. If I keep getting recognized for my music, popularity will follow."

Big Bang Postpones Tokyo and Yokohama Concerts due to Aftershocks

With Big Bang’s Japanese promotions set to begin in early May, many fans have expressed their concerns over the group’s safety in Japan because major aftershocks have been disrupting all over the country lately. However, much to their relief, YG Entertainment has confirmed local media today that Big Bang’s Japanese promotions will be shortened to two weeks, as opposed to the original two month plan, and the Tokyo and Yokohama concerts will be postponed indefinitely.

“All Big Bang members really want to do the concerts in Japan as originally planned to show their support and love for everyone hurt by the recent disaster. But there still are major aftershocks happening in Japan, and many fans from other countries have voiced their concerns over Big Bang’s security. We thought it was a major concern too so we decided to postpone the Tokyo and Yokohama concerts, which haven’t sold any tickets yet,” an official from YGE told Star News Money Today.

However, the concerts in Osaka, Chiba, and Nagoya will be held as planned since all tickets have been sold out already and the members have visited the concert halls in each city twice to check out the security there, according to the official. This means Big Bang will hold a total of eight concerts over two weeks in Japan: Osaka from May 10th to 11th, Chiba from May 13th to 15th, and Nagoya from the 17th to 19th. Big Bang released their special edition album on Apr. 8th and will promote the album until May 1st in Korea. Their second full Japanese album will be released on May 11th.

Big Bang's Japan activity status remains unknown

2NE1 planned to debut in Japan in March but the big earthquake and tsunami made a halt of this schedule. Under the same entertainment company of 2NE1 (YGE), BIGBANG is supposed to hold a Japan tour in May but according to the announcement made by YGE on 16th, whether the tour can ultimately be conducted is still a question.

He further elaborated, “It is not appropriate to debut in Japan concerning how the current situation is nowadays. The first and foremost thing is to help Japan to recover from disasters.” 2NE1 was originally planned to do their pre-promotion of their debut in Japan starting on 9th and they planned to appear on ‘Music Station’ of Fuji TV on 11th.

However, on that day, Japan was stricken by 8.9 magnitude earthquake and tsunami which made their appearance on the TV programme impossible and they were forced to return to Korea on 12th. He further said, “From March to late April, they originally planned to spend 2 weeks to do their promotions in Japan but now all of the activates have to be cancelled.”

And he said, “BIGBANG’s tour in May has been planned but now we do not know whether it can be held as scheduled.” Meanwhile, YGE has donated $500 000 USD to help the victims of the earthquake and tsunami.

FT Island Holds Successful Concert Tour in Japan

The five-member band FT Island finished a concert tour in Japan by holding its last concert at the International Forum Hall in Tokyo on December 28. FT Island had held concerts entitled “FT Island Hall Tour 2010 - So Today” in cities including Osaka (December 3), Aichi (December 11), and Tokyo (December 19), and they held an encore concert in Tokyo again with more than 5,000 fans. The venue was a great success. They began the concert by singing the title song entitled “Flower Rock,” which had been released last May and ranked in fourth place on the Oricon weekly chart, and sang a total 26 songs including the songs “Brand-new-days,” ”So Today,” which had ranked in eighth place on the Oricon weekly chart, “Baby Love,” ”I Hope,” and “Love Love Love” consecutively for three hours at the concert. Their performance filled the venue with excitement.

Members of FT Island said in fluent Japanese, “We performed on this stage with other singers in 2007, but today we have our own concert on this big stage. We feel both tense and amazed at the same time. We are very happy today. As today’s concert will be the last performance of our concert tour, we will definitely do our best during the concert.” In particular, former FT Island member Oh Won Bin, who had withdrawn from the group and debuted as a solo singer, appeared as a special guest and sang songs including “I Love You and I Love You.” In addition, the unit group of FT Island, FT Triple, consisting of Choi Jong Hoon, Lee Jae Jin, and Choi Min Hwan, sang their song “Love Letter” as a special feature.

The five members of the group FT Island sang their representative song entitled “I Believe in Myself,” which they had released when they were an indie band, as if they could not forget about their original intentions. They sang the songs “The One” and “Primadonna” as encore songs and finished the concert and their performances of the year 2010 by singing the song “Treasure” along with their fans.
FT Island will hold a fan meeting at the JCB Hall in Tokyo on March 26 next year.

Micky Yoochun, JYJ Tour will be Held Along with ‘SungKyunKwan Scandal’ Broadcast

“The shooting schedule is pushed back, therefore there will be no disruptions in the drama broadcasts.”
Micky Yoochun’s KBS 2TV drama ‘SungKyunKwan Scandal’ has finished its shooting schedule coordination.

‘SungKyunKwan Scandal’ production company, Raemongraein’s Lee HyunWook PD said on the 1st, “Starting mid-October, Micky Yoochun will leave to have shows in Souteast Asia region, but on the days where he doesn’t have performance schedule, he will be back to Korea to continue filming for the drama.”

The contract agreement signed by Micky Yoochun side and the production company of ‘SungKyunKwan Scandal’ states that the shooting shall be completed in September, however the filming has been delayed bit by bit that makes the filming is inevitably still continuing even in October.

The problem is Micky Yoochun and his fellow TVXQ members Youngwoong Jaejoong and Xiah Junsu that are active under group JYJ must come up with Asian tour live performance starting from mid-October. On the next 15th this month, JYJ will have live performance starting in Bangkok, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, Taipei, and many other countries.

Yet finally ‘SungKyunKwan Scandal’ that is planned to have total 20 episodes until November 2nd broadcast has compromised the shooting and live performance schedule.

The PD said, “Until September 30th, ‘SungKyunKwan Scandal’ has already had 10 episodes broadcasts, and we’re now currently in progress of filming about 15-16 times for the corresponding scenes.” he added, “As long as we’re be able to film scenes where Micky Yoochun takes part in this drama, the TV broadcasts will not have any disruptions.”

‘SungKyunKwan Scandal’ will continue with its plan to broadcast 20 episodes until November 2nd.
