Girls' Generation Ranked 5th for Best Singers in Korea in the Past 20 Years!

In a poll held on KTmusic.co.kr, Girls’ Generation was chosen fifth for the best singers in Korea in the past 20 years.

The poll was held from October 1st to the 28th, and 300 people in their 20s to 60s voted on the best singers. Girls’ Generation was ranked among Korean legends such as Cho Yongpil, Lee Seungchul, Seo Taiji, Kim Gunmo, and Boohwal. Of the people that voted, those in their 30s were the ones who voted most for Girls’ Generation. It’s incredible that such a young group, having debuted just over four years ago, is right up there with legendary artists that were popular in the 90s.

Not only is Girls’ Generation recognized for their talent, but for their songs as well. “Gee” was chosen as the 10th best song in the past 20 years. It seems as though everyone can tell that there is something special about these nine girls, as they continue to gain more and more popularity worldwide.

JYJ’s Yoochun Voted “Most Popular Actor in Asia” for 2011 Seoul Drama Awards

JYJ’s Yoochun was voted as the “Most Popular Actor in Asia” for the 2011 Seoul Drama Awards. According to an online poll conducted by Yahoo Korea, Yoochun received 480,000 votes, topping 115 other nominees for the award that will be given at the 2011 Seoul Drama Awards on August 31^st.

Jang Geun Suk from KBS drama “Mary Stayed Out” placed second followed by Kim Jae Won from MBC drama “Can You Hear My Heart?” at third. For the “Most Popular Actress Award,” Moon Geun Young ranked #1, followed by Park Min Young and Ha Ji Won, respectively.

The 2011 Seoul Drama Awards will be broadcast live on SBS on August 31^st. Yoochun starred in 2010 KBS drama “Sungkyunkwan Scandal,” which landed him the “Rookie of the Year Award,” “Netizens Award,” and “Best Couple Award” at the 2010 KBS Drama Awards ceremony. In 2011, he appeared in MBC drama “Miss Ripley” as one of the main cast.

Taeyeon’s ‘I Love You’ topped ’2011 Sportschosun Power Ranking’ for Week 3 of January

From the result released on January 25th, Taeyeon‘s ‘I Love You‘ which is the OST for ‘Athena:Goddess of War‘ topped the ‘2011 Sportschosun Musician Power Ranking‘ for Week 3 of January (from January 17th to January 23rd). Although not many points were collected in terms of music chart rankings (12 points), no. of broadcasts (0 point) and no. of articles (4 points), Taeyeon’s ‘I Love You’ received a whopping 305,292 votes from fans.

TVXQ (255,977 votes) and GD & Top (17,919 votes) were ranked 2nd and 3rd respectively.

The winners are selected based on the following criteria – music charts ranking (20%), no. of broadcasts (20%), no. of articles (10%) and online fan votes (50%). The weekly winners were announced on every Monday. Since fan voting carry a huge proportion of the total points, it is crucial in deciding the overall rankings.

Fans can cast their votes for their idols and view the results at Sportschosun’s website or the ‘Musician Power Ranking’ site.

What is the #1 Ringtone in Japan?

TVXQ will be releasing the Japanese version of their title tracks Keep Your Head Down and Maximum on the January 26th. Ranking highly on many major music charts with their comeback, their lined up events are under much anticipation.

After placing first on KBS2 Music Bank on January 14th, the group will also be starting a round of events in South Korea. Not only supported and anticipated by Korean fans, TVXQ’s comeback has under many of their Japanese fans’ attention.

TVXQ’s new single ranks No. 1 on pre-order charts in Japan

Korean boy band TVXQ’s new single has recieved the most pre-orders in Japan, according to their agency SM Entertainment on thursday.

SM revealed in press release today that TVXQ’s new album, set to go on sale in Japan on January 26, took first place on the daily and weekly pre-orders list of HMV Japan, a major online shopping and information sites for music, DVD, games and others goods.

The single has already been selected as the man theme song for upcoming Japanese drama “Beautiful Neighbors (美しい隣人)” which will go on air on Fuji TV starting January 11.

The boys will also take part in the soundtrack for a drama in Korea as well — singing a song for SBS spy action thriller “Athena” which is the spin-off to last year’s blockbuster TV series “IRIS.”

TVXQ, one the leading dance groups in K-pop scene since debuting in 2004, was formerly composed of five members Hero Jaejoong, Micky Yuchun, Max Changmin and U-Know Yunho.

However, after disputing with agency SM over the unfairness of their 13-year exclusive contract, Jaejoong, Yuchun and Junsu halted their activities as TVXQ and instead formed trio JYJ.

TVXQ is now a duo group led by two remaining members Changmin and Yunho who are set to resume their activities in both Korea and Japan in January.
