Japan major labels in tense rivarly, for CNBLUE

Japan's major music labels are in a tense rivalry to win CNBLUE.

CNBLUE currently release their albums and hold concerts through Indie label FNC Music Japan but they plan to sign a deal with a major label and debut in the major market this year. Thus major labels are in a tense rivalry to attract CNBLUE whose market value has been proven through Oricon rankings and concert sell outs.

According to CNBLUE management agency FNC Music, major labels that have offered contract to CNBLUE include those that lead the new Korean Wave with Korean artists as well as those with Japanese stars. Over 10 companies have already officially offered contract.

They want to sign a deal with CNBLUE not simply because of the New Korean Wave but because they see CNBLUE as an unique and individualistically strong band. They highly evaluate the fact that CNBLUE has the potential to be around for a long time in Japan's music market, where band music culture is strong, regardless of the heat for the Korean Wave.

Furthermore, CNBLUE has sold all of about 20 of their concerts in Japan despite being an indie label and ranked no.1 on Oricon Indies Chart just by album sales and concerts without any other promotions.

According to FNC Music Japan, representatives from around 10 labels have attended CNBLUE concert two or three times and some of them even reserved tickets for the next show through CNBLUE staff because all the tickets were sold out.

FNC Music plans to choose a major label that'll work as CNBLUE's partner in Japan early this year.
