SJ-M is the most well-received at the Hong Kong Asian-Pop Music Festival

According to reports from the Hong Kong media, this year's 《Hong Kong Asian-Pop Music Festival》 was held on the 23rd of March at the Expo. Countries such as China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, Singapore, and Malaysia deployed their best men with the heavenly kings and queens' status, and also young, talented artists to perform and compete against each other. William Chan, who was representing Hong Kong, was unable to win over his overseas rivals, and was eliminated first; he expressed that he was disappointed (with the loss), but would definitely accept the defeat with good grace.

China's representative wins two awards

Hong Kong's William Chan, China's Wu Qiong, Taiwanese group SIGMA, South Korean group The Boss*, Singapore's Tay Kewei and Malaysian band Bunkface chased after the Asian Super New Star Award, Best Stage Performance award, (and) the Best Song Performance award. Although William Chan had the advantage for being in his homeground, but still lost over the raging overseas rivals. He and SIGMA were eliminated from the competition first, and even in the Best Stage Performance Award category in which he had the most confidence in, he also lost by a narrow margin of several points. In the end, Wu Qiong snatched both the Asian Super New Star Award and the Best Song Performance Award, while the Best Stage Performance award fell into the hands of The Boss.

South Korean group wins Best Stage Performance Award

William Chan admitted honestly that he was very disappointed (with the loss), but would definitely accept the defeat with good grace, and said that: "I have always wanted to win the Best Stage Performance Award, and worked really hard for the dance practice this time; I'll just have to continue working harder. Although I've lost, I really accept it. It's really an invaluable experience to be able to watch the performances by artists from different places." He explained that he was very nervous while waiting for the results to be announced on stage, but it was a real pity that he lost to The Boss by a margin of several points. William Chan said that: "I was able to experience the feelings that I felt when I participated in the rookie's competition when I was 17. At that time, I joined the competition for the sake of the Best Stage Performance as well." When asked whether he felt that his loss could be attributed to the fact that he did not activate the lightbulbs on his performance outfits in order to add to the effects of the performance, William Chan laughed and said: "If there were sparks it would be even better; I actually planned to light them up after entering the final round. But it's alright, I can still wear the outfit in the future."

SJM was the most well-received

Hong Kong representative Joey Yung took the lead by singing; other performers included Taiwan's Lollipop F, Singapore's JJ Lin, Korea's Super Junior-M (SJM), Malaysia's Fish Leong, and China's Bibi Zhou. Among them, SJM's appearance during the finale was the most well-received, causing profuse screams from the audience.

B2ST displays dominance over Asian music fans through their first solo concert

Although they debuted only last year, B2ST was able to confirm their command of the Asian music market through their first-ever solo concert, held recently on December 12th.

B2ST opened their ‘Welcome to B2ST Airlines’ concert at the Jamsil Olympic Stadium, where fans from not only Korea, but also from Japan, China, Hong Kong and Thailand came together to form the 8,000-member audience for the event.

But that’s not all – according to a representative from their agency, Cube Entertainment, both Korean and overseas fans who were unable to grab a ticket stood outside the venue in the cold, listening to the music and waiting for the concert to end so that they may catch a glimpse of their idols’ faces as they walked out.
The representative stated, “The day before the concert (11th), 5-6 fans from Taiwan who were unable to buy a ticket came to the company building and asking if there was any way for them to purchase a ticket. These fans prepared themselves with blankets so that they could wait outside the venue in case somebody would come and say that they weren’t able to attend, and were consequently looking to sell their tickets.”

In the end, there were about 10 people who came to the venue trying to sell their ticket, and 5-6 of those tickets were bought by international fans. It wasn’t confirmed whether those fans were the same Taiwanese fans who came to the company building.

After the concert, B2ST headed off to a restaurant with their guest performers and fellow agency artists (G.na and 4minute) to celebrate the end of the concert. The fans somehow found out which restaurant they went to and waited outside once again just to see their faces. Around about 100 fans were still waiting, even past midnight.

YG Entertainment to hold open auditions in Asia at the beginning of 2011

YG Entertainment will soon begin hunting for talented singers all around Asia.

On November 4th, YG Entertainment stated, “Next year, on January 28th, we will be revealing an open online audition (www.yg-audition.com). We will be looking forward to seeing talents that will be the future of YG Entertainment, as those who will succeed the nation’s best singers: Big Bang, 2NE1, Se7en, and Gummy.”

YG Entertainment began overseas auditions back in June for the first time in six years, and have been traveling to America and other overseas countries to hunt for talented singers. They have been receiving such a hot response that their official website even crashed due to heavy traffic.

For these auditions, the finalists from the online auditions will have a real life audition in Korea, which will be judged directly by YG’s head man, Yang Hyun Suk.

YG have been known to not hold open auditions in the past, however, the company has finally decided to extend the number of open auditions starting from June of this year.

We like how people can show their strong talents in a short amount of time. If they don’t have confidence in having only one talent, working harder to show a variety of talents will net a good result,” said a representative of YG Auditions.

YG ASIA Auditions will commence at the beginning of 2011, starting from Korea, then to Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.

Meanwhile, the YG Family Concert will take place this weekend, from 4 – 5th December.

Micky Yoochun, JYJ Tour will be Held Along with ‘SungKyunKwan Scandal’ Broadcast

“The shooting schedule is pushed back, therefore there will be no disruptions in the drama broadcasts.”
Micky Yoochun’s KBS 2TV drama ‘SungKyunKwan Scandal’ has finished its shooting schedule coordination.

‘SungKyunKwan Scandal’ production company, Raemongraein’s Lee HyunWook PD said on the 1st, “Starting mid-October, Micky Yoochun will leave to have shows in Souteast Asia region, but on the days where he doesn’t have performance schedule, he will be back to Korea to continue filming for the drama.”

The contract agreement signed by Micky Yoochun side and the production company of ‘SungKyunKwan Scandal’ states that the shooting shall be completed in September, however the filming has been delayed bit by bit that makes the filming is inevitably still continuing even in October.

The problem is Micky Yoochun and his fellow TVXQ members Youngwoong Jaejoong and Xiah Junsu that are active under group JYJ must come up with Asian tour live performance starting from mid-October. On the next 15th this month, JYJ will have live performance starting in Bangkok, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, Taipei, and many other countries.

Yet finally ‘SungKyunKwan Scandal’ that is planned to have total 20 episodes until November 2nd broadcast has compromised the shooting and live performance schedule.

The PD said, “Until September 30th, ‘SungKyunKwan Scandal’ has already had 10 episodes broadcasts, and we’re now currently in progress of filming about 15-16 times for the corresponding scenes.” he added, “As long as we’re be able to film scenes where Micky Yoochun takes part in this drama, the TV broadcasts will not have any disruptions.”

‘SungKyunKwan Scandal’ will continue with its plan to broadcast 20 episodes until November 2nd.
