2NE1′s Sandara reveals picture taken with Dr. Dre

Girl group 2NE1 recently met up with legendary rapper Dr. Dre.

Member Sandara Park revealed the picture through her me2day, saying, “We met Dr. Dre oppa for the first time in Singapore~! +.+ He recognized us first and greeted us!”

She continued, “His stage was after our stage, so Snoop Dogg oppa watched us and told us we were awesome! ^o^ After we finished our performance~ He asked to take a picture with us~ so click! It made me feel so good!!! Kkyah~!” 

In the picture, Dr. Dre and the members of 2NE1 pose friendlily together, with Dara even throwing up the ‘Westside’ sign in Dre’s honor.

Netizens commented, “Looks like Dr. Dre recognized the next world stars. Haha”, “Wow~ I want to meet Dr. Dre, too. I’m jealous”, and “Ah~ I’m both envious and proud!”

In related news, 2NE1 left a strong impression at the ‘2011 Mnet Asian Music Awards‘, which took place in Singapore. Leader CL performed a powerful stage with will.i.am and apl.de.ap of “Where Is The Love“, and 2NE1 received an award for the ‘Song of the Year’ with their hit track, ‘I’m the Best‘.

Mnet kicks off online voting for ’2011 MAMA Awards’

It’s that time of the year again, folks. ‘Mnet‘s Annual Music Awards’ (or ‘MAMA’) is gearing up to deliver a spectacular event at the end of November, but before they do, they’re concentrating on narrowing down this year’s most popular artists and songs.

The ’2011 MAMA’ kicked off its voting system online on November 1st, inviting K-Pop fans from all over the world to name their choices on who should belong to the top tier of 2011.

SBS Inkigayo to ban MAMA attendees?

Big Bang members G-Dragon and TOP who formed a unit will release new music on the 15th. Meanwhile, their agency, YG Entertainment, has upset SBS ‘Inkigayo’ who have recently shown disappointment in YG. What SBS will do in response to G-Dragon and TOP’s comeback has attracted attention.

Among the music program broadcasters, SBS “Inkigayo” has maintained an exceptionally strong relationship with YG. As a result, of course YG artists have received a particular treatment for their comeback stages. Like the time when girl group 2NE1 performed “Go Away”, “Clap Your Hands”, and “Can’t Nobody” on “Inkigayo” taking up a whopping 11 minutes, while other music broadcasters such as KBS Music Bank and MBC Music Show only allowed them to perform 2 songs. Thus exposingSBS’s special “affection” towards YG’s artists. Fans and producers alike complained that “11 minutes is taking it too far”, “It was unfair for other artists”, showing their discontent. But SBS was indifferent to these claims.

However, recently YG and Inkigayo’s relationship has been strained because of YG’s attendance to Mnet’s award ceremony “2010 MAMA” last month. SBS said Mnet’s MAMA overlaped with their live broadcast schedule and disapproved of some of the artists who chose to participate in Mnet’s Awards. In fact, the majority of the companies understood SBS’s intention and didn’t attend the ceremony. However YG artists went ahead and participated which from SBS’s Inkigayo perspective who had given YG the most loyalty and affection, was a blow right to their head.

YG’s Yang Hyun Suk announced that the unit of TOP and G-Dragon would also go with the three-title-songs strategy like 2NE1 did. Only this time it’s still being contemplated whether SBS Ingikayo will support their appearances. Whether they will give them exceptional treatment like in 2NE1′s case has gained much attention.

SBS’s executive expressed their anger after they stated, “In my opinion, singers who attended Mnet’s ceremony should be unconditionally suspended [from appearing/performing]“. The decision SBS Inkigayo will take regarding G-Dragon and TOP’s unit has drawn much attention.

After Zhang Jie’s live stream performance on MAMA, his name is the number one search on NAVER. After his performance on MAMA, many viewers wrote, “His voice is beautiful!” “I have never listened to Chinese music before, but today after watching [him] on MAMA, his beautiful voice shocked me.” Critics said, “Zhang Jie’s talent brings glory to China.”etc. Even Big Bang’s Taeyang praises Zhang Jie’s performance. Taeyang also said that he has to seek advice from him privately.
