Kim Hyun Joong's Singapore Press Conference

Kim Hyun Joong's Singapore Press Conference

At THEFACESHOP Asia Tour Press Conference in Singapore last Friday, the ambassador for the beauty care brand Kim Hyun Joong, flew into town to launch the FACEit Power Perfection BB Cream. This latest product from THEFACESHOP has hit more than a million unit in sales since its launch in Korea five months ago.

Kim Hyun Joong, TheFaceShop

After a welcome and opening speech by Mr Leslie Low, Director of THEFACESHOP Singapore and Ms Kelly Kwak, Overseas Marketing Leader of THEFACESHOP Korea, the emcee Ken of Radio1003 greeted Kim Hyun Joong. Nicknamed "Walking Statue", Kim Hyun Joong managed a short and shy reply in ENGLISH!

Kim Hyun Joong, TheFaceShop
It was sad for Kim Hyun Joong, who was staying in a resort hotel, because he couldn't go out to play with a day full of scheduled events. His staff was able to visit Universal Studios Singapore and brought him a souvenir T-shirt, while he could only enjoy a simple lunch near the beach.
Here's an excerpt of the press conference.

During last year's Asia Tour to Singapore, two autographed life-size standees of Kim Hyun Joong were auctioned off to raise funds for World Vision International. This time, Kim Hyun Joong prepared personal items for the charity auction. For Singapore, it was a limited edition Break Down album with the serial number of "85". Only ten thousand copies were released while Kim Hyun Joong himself has reserved a hundred copies, leaving only 9,900 copies for fans to grab. The limited edition comes with a DVD with footage of his MV making and are serialized.

Q: The average Singaporean men are not used to using makeup like BB Cream, so how or what would you do to encourage them to use it?

A:
Even in Korea, it used to be in such a way that the men are not really used to using makeup products. Now, there is a shift in culture, so men are looking more into taking care of their own skin just like women. So I feel that Singaporean men can also take care of their skin by using THEFACESHOP products, especially the BB Cream.

Q: You have been busy with your Asia Tour so how do you keep yourself motivated when the work piles up and how do you relax at the end of the day?

A:
Even though I am running a busy schedule everyday, I try to enjoy my work to find the joy and happiness in my working life. And I also find joy in having good food, so when I'm here in Singapore I try to taste the local food to keep myself happy and good.

Emcee: I'm just curious, some people relax by singing in the bathroom, so do you sing when you are in the bathroom or do you practice dancing?

A:
It is my job to sing and dance onstage so when it is my own time to relax, I prefer not to sing or dance but to do something else.

Q: If you do have free time to go to Universal Studio Singapore, who would you like to bring, for fun, because its for recreation?

A:
If I get to go to Universal Studios Singapore, I wish to bring my staff along with me and have a good time.
Q: If you could create a beauty product, what would it be and why?

A:
If I could create a beauty product, it would be more to cater to people with busy lifestyle so it would be something like a mask which if you put on, it can give you a full makeup instantly.

Emcee: Wow, is that what you are wishing for? To have a mask that can full makeup.

A: It is to save time mostly and I'm expecting such a product would be produced 50 years' time.
Q: What are your top three favorite THEFACESHOP products?

A: My top three favorite products would be the Power Perfection BB Cream as well as the essence and the hydrating mask pack.

Q: For Breakdown, you have a manly and masculine image so was it tough trying to achieve this image and how do you go about doing it?

A:
I did lots of exercise to prepare myself for the mini-album image so it was tough but I’m glad with the results. Another album will be released in October so please look out for it as well and continue to give your support.

Emcee: What is the toughest part preparing for this album, other than preparing for the image?

A:
The hardest part was I felt very pressured and stressed because I had to do most of the preparations alone, as a solo artist. But I overcame this when I saw how the fans supported me and how they like my album and music.

Q: Can you give us some hint about your new album concept and the genre of the music?

A:
I can’t release much information but it will be more on funky music where everyone can dance to and the concept will be very different from my previous mini-album.

Q: You have your own album and acted before so what do you hope to achieve in this year? Maybe you would like to try something new, other than acting, singing and dancing?

A:
I feel that in terms of acting and singing, I still have much more to learn and a long way to go. Before I try something new, I would like to excel in these two areas first before trying something new.

Emcee: So how would you describe the relationship between your music and THEFACESHOP? How would you put that together?

A:
I feel that both THEFACESHOP products and my music make me standout and is something that I can express myself through.

There have been many questions among fans about why there weren't any showcase performance during this Asia Tour. It was revealed that Kim Hyun Joong is planning for a concert tour earlier next year, its no wonder that he's saving the best until then. Henecians and Triple S, let's start saving up for the ticket!
Thanks to THEFACESHOP Singapore for the invitation. Special Thanks: Resorts World Sentosa, Launch Group

outh Korean group Big Bang together with 6 groups to hold a concert locally in July

The Korean wave continues to sweep through Singapore non-stop, 7 South Korean groups will be attending
the Korean Music Wave 2011 in July, those confirmed coming to Singapore include Big Bang and their
red hot juniors 2NE1, which is bound to kick off another round of ticket grabbing craze!

Last year October's Korean Pop Night Concert 2010 created a sensation locally, tickets fall short of demand, more than 8000 fans attended the concert with great enthusiasm. Xinmsn was given the honour to be the designated online media partner of the concert.

At that time, we welcomed 7 groups of South Korean artists including Big Bang, SNSD, SHINee, FT Island,
Infinite and Dae Guk Nam Ah (The Boss), which was a grand event.

Organizer Proof Label announced that they will hold another large-scale K-pop concert again this year
on July 15th, named as the Korean Music Wave 2011.

The concert will be held at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. At this moment, there will be 7 groups of artists
attending, the biggest attraction being Big Bang who will be coming for the second time.

The 5 member group Big Bang has not released any albums in Korea for more than 2 years. In February
they have finally released a mini-album [Tonight], sweeping various major music charts, showing the
popularity level of the group. Last year in Singapore, Big Bang showed a strong charismatic stage, which is
very much admirable.

This time, they will bring along their juniors 2NE1. Although 2NE1 debuted in 2009, just released their first
full-length album last year but the four girls' popularity is red hot. They are also the familiar faces on the music
charts, gradually building fan bases around the world.

When xinmsn recently announced about the concert through Twitter, it resulted in immediate response and
discussions among the netizens. Many were worried that this is an April Fool's joke (the announcement was
made on April 1st), to which xinmsn clarified repeatedly.

Dreaming about the arrival of their idols, fans are naturally excited and anxious, eager to know more news.
But as July is still far away, the organizer is very tight lipped about details of the concert.

Yesterday xinmsn made an inquiry with the organizer who said that presently they can only reveal that the
tickets will be sold through SISTIC.

For last year's Korean Pop Night Concert 2010, part of the tickets was sold through manual booking, causing
some chaotic situations at the shopping mall. This year's arrangement should be able to soothe the fans'
hearts, oversea fans will have the opportunity to purchase the tickets.

For other ticketing information, names of the other 5 groups of artistes and so on, the organizer will announce
them in the near future.

Xinmsn is the assigned online media partner for Korean Music Wave 2011. Please continue to stay tune to
xinmsn for the latest reports. Readers may also join Twitter and Facebook for more timely information.

Big Bang wins award at the “2011 Singapore Entertainment Awards"

On April 2nd, Se7en attended the “2011 Singapore Entertainment Awards (SEA)” and came home with honorable awards for both him and labelmate Big Bang.

Held by the Singapore Press Holdings Ltd., the ceremony is thrown in support of the Chinese entertainment industry and awards those that excel in the music, movie, TV, radio, and concert area.

YG Entertainment revealed that Se7en took home the ‘Best Asia Performance’ award while Big Bang won the ‘Most Popular Korean Artist’ award, chosen through popularity votes and by industry experts.

Unforutunately for Big Bang, they were unable to attend due to a pre-scheduled activity.

Representatives of YG Entertainment stated, “Despite both Se7en and Big Bang being only at the beginning of their Chinese market advancements, this record is impressive to us. We’re looking forward to their promotions in the Chinese market."

(Parts omitted)

Note: We realize that the Singapore area has more then just a Chinese population, as is stated in the YG quote, but we cannot change direct quotes, so we will leave it like that, unless the translation changes. Thank you for understanding. :)

SE7EN Bounces with Singapore’s Lucky 7

Singapore – The weekend, was gloomy, yet it didn’t stop anyone, especially Lucky Se7en to come down and enjoy his special “Digital Bounce” Album Promotion in Singapore on the February 19, 2011! The quick showcase in St. James Powerhouse was filled with green light and screams from all the fangirls, fanladies and fanboys! DJ Ken from 100.3FM hosted the show with his usual Singlish antics, hyping up the crowd before SE7EN coming out and started bouncing on the stage with ‘Digital Bounce’!

He sang hit songs such as “La la la” and “Better Together” to name a few, singing a total of six songs (why not 7 it up?). The first picture shows him greeting his fans and holding a fan’s ’7′ light! Super duper lucky Se7en alright! He greeted and talked to the fans in English (that debut in the US sure paid off!) and after the second song, he puts away his sunglasses, revealing his flawless face. All the fans, although an small but intimate little showcase with a simple stage, screamed and supported him hysterically.

“You guys will see me again tomorrow right? I’ll be having a fanmeeting at… well I don’t exactly know where, but you do know where, right?” he said, while fans chimed in, “IMM!” and he was grinning by the answer and continued, “Yes there, so I shall see you all there tomorrow yes?!”

Interview with Kim Heechul on the Accident in Singapore

Super Junior's members Kim Heechul and Leeteuk were in a 7 cars accident. The management company SM Entertainment eased the fans' mind by saying, "the two people are fine. When they come back to Korea on the 31st, they will go to the hospital and receive an examination. "

When Super Junior successfully finished SM Town Live in Tokyo which was held at Yoyogi Stadium in Tokyo, Japan, they visited Singapore on the 28th for their concert Super Show3 which was to be held on the 29th and 30th.

When Super Junior arrived at the airport, many fans were present. Some diehard fans rode on several cars and started to chase the stars' van which was heading to the hotel. A dangerous race ensued and finally, a car hit the van which Leeteuk and Heechul were riding on, creating the first accident. Afterward, 5 cars that were chasing the van continuously collided with each other making the collisions into a 7 cars accident. The accident was featured in Singapore newspapers.

Talking to Sportsworld over the phone, Kim Heechul expressed his discomfort saying, "my body's not feeling good because of my back pain." He added, "it was horrible because it reminded me of the past incident. Leeteuk and I experienced it before." In April 2007, Super Junior was involved a car accident when the van that the members rode on rolled over leaving Kyuhyun in a critical condition. In August of 2006, Heechul was in a car accident when he was on his way back from visiting the funeral of Donghae's father. Heechul had hip and ankle fractures and was hospitalized for 12 weeks. He received a surgery to put 7 metal pins in his left leg.

Heechul said, "because of the aftereffect of the accident I had before, I can't go to sleep in the car and I can't bend my legs well. I'm not going to happy complain about how I want to have a private life. But I don't want to risk my life to receive love."

Korean Boy Band Super Junior in 6-Vehicle Pile-up on ECP: Were fans to blame for crash?(With words from organisers)

KOREAN BOY BAND SUPER JUNIOR IN 6-VEHICLE PILE-UP ON ECP
REPORT: CHARLENE CHUA

Two members of Korean boy band, Super Junior were involved in an accident along the East Coast Parkway near the Bedok Exit yesterday at about 6.30pm.
Fortunately, the duo, who arrived on the 5.30pm flight from Tokyo yesterday, were unhurt.

Concert organisers say overzealous fans may have been the cause.
Leeteuk and Heechul were on their way from Changi Airport to their hotel. The rest of the 10-man group were arriving separately.

The boys were in one van while the two employees of organisers Running Into The Sun were in the car ahead of them. Running Into The Sun is a subsidiary of Fly Entertainment.

According to an employee who was in the staff car, eight fan vehicles were giving chase and were trying to get close to the Super Junior van.

Nervous
Said the employee: “We were getting very nervous when the fan vehicles started coming too close. But we travelled on.

“However, they just kept coming closer and closer.”

These fan vans ended up racing too close to a unidentified cream-coloured car, which was in front of the staff car.

This set off a chain reaction.

When the unidentified car braked, the staff car hit it, causing a pile-up of six vehicles, including the van carrying Leeteuk and Heechul.

After stopping at the side of the road, the people in all six vehicles came out to check on their vehicles.

No one was hurt.

The Super Junior van then took Leeteuk and Heechul to the hotel.
The employee said that they had to wait for the tow truck to come and take their car away?

During the wait, which took 45 minutes, they made calls to settle their car insurance.

At around 8 pm, the tow trucks arrived and their boss from Running Into The Sun, ex-actress Beatrice Chia, came to pick them up.
Said the employee: “Beatrice was very worried for us and kept telling us to see the doctor.

“But we were fine so we just went for a drink and had a short rest, then it was back at the airport again.”

They had to pick up another seven members of Super Junior who had arrived at the airport on the 9.30pm flight.

The last member of the group is arriving today on an afternoon flight.

The employee said she and her colleague were traumatised by the accident and she wants Super Junior fans to know that they were endangering the boys by chasing them on the road.

She said: “The boys could have got seriously hurt.

“So, to the fans, next time, please think of their safety first even if you want to show your love and support for them.”

Police said they received a call at 6.45pm involving six vehicles, but no one was injured.

Super Junior is in town to perform at their concerts – Super Junior Super Show 3 – tonight and tomorrow night.
The popular group is know for the hit songs like Sorry, Sorry and Bonamana.

Were fans to blame for crash?

“It’s unfortunate that this happened but everything is under control. We’re happy that the boys are okay and the concert will go on as planned.”
-Ms Cheryl Han, a publicist for Fly Entertainment.

Leeteuk & Heechul Involved In A Seven-Cars Accident In Singapore

Male group Super Junior's members Leeteuk and Kim Heechul was in a 7 cars pile up in Singapore.
A rep from SM Entertainment on January 30th said, "I think the fans were really excited since it was the first time that Super Junior's Super Show was held in Singapore. Thankfully, the members have no injury that they had no problem going on the stage. Only the van was damaged."
The rep added, "But since the aftereffect of an accident is scary, when they arrive in Korea on the 31st, we are going to tell them to get an examination."
After SM Town Live in Tokyo concert ended, Leeteuk and Kim Heechul went to Singapore for their Super Show 3 concert before the other members. When the fans in Singapore heard the news of their arrival, many people went to the airport, overcrowding the airport.
Some die-hard fans took taxis to follow the vans that the two people were riding on which resulted in a 7 cars accident.
When the accident occurred, Leeteuk talked about the accident on his Twitter saying, "It's good if you want to follow our car, but be careful when you come. A 7 cars accident, front and back. I almost died."
Kim Heechul left a request to the fans saying, "Hey hey, if you want to see us, to the concert venue, go go. Everyone is in danger. I don't want the past to pass before my eyes ever again~."

YG Entertainment reveals video for YG Audition

Last week we reported that YG Entertainment was hunting for talented singers in Asia through an open audition (www.yg-audition.com) titled the YG Audition. For these auditions, the finalists from the initial auditions will have a real life audition in Korea, which will be judged directly by YG’s head man, Yang Hyun Suk.

Recently, a video advertisement for this audition featuring a faux YG superstar was revealed. You can see Big Bang, 2NE1, Se7en, and PSY giving props to the faux star in the video.

YG ASIA Auditions will commence at the beginning of 2011, starting from Korea, then to Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.

YG Entertainment to hold open auditions in Asia at the beginning of 2011

YG Entertainment will soon begin hunting for talented singers all around Asia.

On November 4th, YG Entertainment stated, “Next year, on January 28th, we will be revealing an open online audition (www.yg-audition.com). We will be looking forward to seeing talents that will be the future of YG Entertainment, as those who will succeed the nation’s best singers: Big Bang, 2NE1, Se7en, and Gummy.”

YG Entertainment began overseas auditions back in June for the first time in six years, and have been traveling to America and other overseas countries to hunt for talented singers. They have been receiving such a hot response that their official website even crashed due to heavy traffic.

For these auditions, the finalists from the online auditions will have a real life audition in Korea, which will be judged directly by YG’s head man, Yang Hyun Suk.

YG have been known to not hold open auditions in the past, however, the company has finally decided to extend the number of open auditions starting from June of this year.

“We like how people can show their strong talents in a short amount of time. If they don’t have confidence in having only one talent, working harder to show a variety of talents will net a good result,” said a representative of YG Auditions.

YG ASIA Auditions will commence at the beginning of 2011, starting from Korea, then to Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.

Meanwhile, the YG Family Concert will take place this weekend, from 4 – 5th December.
