Kim Hyun Joong’s agency “Key East” made the announcement on February 2, “Kim Hyun Joong made a surprise appearance in front of fans. It was sad for Kim Hyun Joong, who was staying in a resort hotel, because he couldn't go out to play with a day full of scheduled events. His staff was able to visit Universal Studios Singapore and brought him a souvenir T-shirt, while he could only enjoy a simple lunch near the beach.

During last year's Asia Tour to Singapore, two autographed life-size standees of Kim Hyun Joong were auctioned off to raise funds for World Vision International. This time, Kim Hyun Joong prepared personal items for the charity auction. For Singapore, it was a limited edition Break Down album with the serial number of "85". Only ten thousand copies were released while Kim Hyun Joong himself has reserved a hundred copies, leaving only 9,900 copies for fans to grab. The limited edition comes with a DVD with footage of his MV making and are serialized.
Q: The average Singaporean men are not used to using makeup like BB Cream, so how or what would you do to encourage them to use it?
A: Even in Korea, it used to be in such a way that the men are not really used to using makeup products. Now, there is a shift in culture, so men are looking more into taking care of their own skin just like women. So I feel that Singaporean men can also take care of their skin by using THEFACESHOP products, especially the BB Cream.
Q: You have been busy with your Asia Tour so how do you keep yourself motivated when the work piles up and how do you relax at the end of the day?
A: Even though I am running a busy schedule everyday, I try to enjoy my work to find the joy and happiness in my working life. And I also find joy in having good food, so when I'm here in Singapore I try to taste the local food to keep myself happy and good.
Emcee: I'm just curious, some people relax by singing in the bathroom, so do you sing when you are in the bathroom or do you practice dancing?
A: It is my job to sing and dance onstage so when it is my own time to relax, I prefer not to sing or dance but to do something else.
Q: If you do have free time to go to Universal Studio Singapore, who would you like to bring, for fun, because its for recreation?
A: If I get to go to Universal Studios Singapore, I wish to bring my staff along with me and have a good time. Q: If you could create a beauty product, what would it be and why?
A: If I could create a beauty product, it would be more to cater to people with busy lifestyle so it would be something like a mask which if you put on, it can give you a full makeup instantly.
Emcee: Wow, is that what you are wishing for? To have a mask that can full makeup.
A: It is to save time mostly and I'm expecting such a product would be produced 50 years' time. Q: What are your top three favorite THEFACESHOP products? A: My top three favorite products would be the Power Perfection BB Cream as well as the essence and the hydrating mask pack.
Q: For Breakdown, you have a manly and masculine image so was it tough trying to achieve this image and how do you go about doing it?
A: I did lots of exercise to prepare myself for the mini-album image so it was tough but I’m glad with the results. Another album will be released in October so please look out for it as well and continue to give your support.
Emcee: What is the toughest part preparing for this album, other than preparing for the image?
A: The hardest part was I felt very pressured and stressed because I had to do most of the preparations alone, as a solo artist. But I overcame this when I saw how the fans supported me and how they like my album and music.
Q: Can you give us some hint about your new album concept and the genre of the music?
A: I can’t release much information but it will be more on funky music where everyone can dance to and the concept will be very different from my previous mini-album.
Q: You have your own album and acted before so what do you hope to achieve in this year? Maybe you would like to try something new, other than acting, singing and dancing?
A: I feel that in terms of acting and singing, I still have much more to learn and a long way to go. Before I try something new, I would like to excel in these two areas first before trying something new.
Emcee: So how would you describe the relationship between your music and THEFACESHOP? How would you put that together?
A: I feel that both THEFACESHOP products and my music make me standout and is something that I can express myself through.

In a survey about the nation’s most handsome male stars who have the most suspicious face-offs, who were chosen for looking different from their past selves, 545 netizens voted through the portal site Daum from the 11th to the 16th.
The 7 nominees for the survey were JYJ’s Kim Jaejoong, TVXQ’s U-Know Yunho, Jang Dong Gun, Jisung, Kim Hyun Joong, Jang Geun Seok and Lee Teuk.
The man to come in first place by a landslide was JYJ’s Kim Jaejoong with his sharp facial features. He received 57% (275 votes) of the total votes.

As the damaged of the massive earthquake in Japan is spreading, Hallyu stars Japanese schedules are being cancelled or postponed as well.
Kim Hyun-joong was to attend a promotion event in Tokyo nhk Hall on the 13th but it got cancelled and he never left. Ryoo Soo-yeong had a fan meeting in Osaka Nikko Hotel but that was postponed. Singer and actor Kim Jeong-hoon also had a fan meeting on the same day in Saitama Super Arena but cancelled and returned to Korea on the 13th. He had been preparing since the 8th.
Future events in Japan are also uncertain. Jang Geun-seok was looking forward to his singing debut stage with 20 thousand or so fans on the 27th in Tokyo but even that is not certain. His management says, "The Japanese also are not sure of what will happen so we are going to wait a couple of days".
Kara is planned to appear in the "Universal Dream Live 2011" in Osaka Universal Studio on Asahi TV "Music Station" on the 13th but is waiting for their Japanese management to call.
It also looks like those singers that were to debut in Japan might not go according to plan.
Female group 2NE1 was supposed to debut through Asahi TV "Music Station" and start overall local activities starting at the end o March, but was postponed due to the great earthquake and isn't sure of what will happen now. Their management YG Entertainment said, "We might have to postpone the entire plan".
Even male group Beast is supposed to be revolving on their promotion activities but is stepping back to see the situation. MBLAQ who planned a long term stay in Japan for their Japanese debut in April say, "The Japanese entertainment can't confirm anything and so can't we".
The Hallyu stars who have cancelled or postponed their activities altogether say, "It is a definite thing we cancel our events". Kim Jeong-hoon's management says, "This was his first event after being discharged from the army but as the damages from the tragedy spreads it was a definite decision to cancel it".

Singer cum actor Kim HyunJoong revealed that “I don’t feel upset when being called ‘Little Yon-sama’”
On 14-Dec, Kim HyunJoong was at Tokyo Dome for charity event ‘Message! To Asia’, and had a short interview time with reporter from Korea at a late hour after ending the event. Ambitions in the future as a Hallyu Star, desire to be both singer and actor, Kim HyunJoong said frankly on his thoughts about being called as ‘the 2nd Bae YongJoon’.

- This is your first time performing in Tokyo Dome, what is your feeling?
Since advancing into Japan, my target is to (perform) in Bodokan Areana and then lastly in Tokyo Dome, 2 of my targets were accomplished this year, even my final target has been accomplished. Even though it is not a solo concert, being able to perform in Tokyo Dome, I understood about the dignity of this concert venue. I have the ambition to be able to hold a concert in Tokyo Dome when my solo album is released next year.
- For a moment, you mentioned before to focus on acting, but you will release a solo album next year and will be starting your activities as a singer.
Acting and singing will go on side by side. Even though it is tough, it is not too hard on me. I want to show myself as a singer and also showing myself acting.
- You are close to Bae YongJoon personally as to even call him ‘hyung’, what is your thought about seeing Bae YongJoon in Tokyo Dome this time?
He seems like a different person somehow. I felt that he is really remarkable when I saw him talking naturally with the audience on such a big stage. I find it very amazing and was shocked, I think it is no doubt the growth of internet. Because they can easily learn about Hallyu and download videos almost simultaneously, so I also have fans from far away countries. Above all, I think it is because of the successful exports of ‘Boys over Flowers’.
- In this performance at Tokyo Dome, you showed yourself dancing which you haven’t shown for a long time. What is your feeling?
It is not that I will not dance when I am not coming out as a dance singer, I am practicing dancing everyday. So that I will not get unfamiliar with it. My solo album which will be released next year has been in preparation since a long time ago. In order to show my image as someone who can sing and dance in front of the public, I continued to dance. Overseas fans mainly know me as Yoon JiHoo from drama ‘Boys Over Flowers’, so they will be surprised to see me dancing, but I want to show a better image as a singer next year.

Hallyu stars Bae Yong Joon and Kim Hyun Joong will be making an official visit to Japan on December 12th to participate in DATV’s “Project Smile“.

Singer and actor Kim Hyun Joong (24) will make a cameo appearance in the KBS 2TV drama “Dream High,” which will air from next January.
In the drama, which Bae Yong Joon and Park Jin Young co-produced, Kim Hyun Joong will play a star actor who is coming back to the country after conducting overseas activities.
Kim filmed the scene in which he met Bae Young Joon, who plays the chairman of the board of Kirin Art School, the best star training school, at the Incheon international airport on December 7. It was the first time that Kim Hyun Joong and Bae Yong Joon appeared in a scene together after Kim had transferred to Bae’s agency, Keyeast. The production company of “Dream High” said, “Bae Yong Joon monitored Kim’s acting and carefully provided advice about his acting. We had actually planned to film the scene without advance notice as we had worried that too many people might gather at the airport, but many fans were waiting at the airport from the early morning anyway and the entrance of the airport was almost blocked.”
“Dream High,” which will air its first episode on January 3, will portray the process of how students at Kirin Art School become world stars through constant challenges.
Kim Hyun Joong became his boss Bae Yong Joon's successor to be TheFaceshop endorser. He was in Malaysia for 2 days to promote TheFaceshop products. The Korean side arranged quite a number of guards to protect Kim Hyun Joong on his trip to Malaysia. During the presscon, one of the guards was rather flustered and even used his body to blocked the photographer who was taking photos resulting in a rather unhappy body contact incident. During the fanmeet, one of the fan made used of the autograph session and went and hugged Kim Hyun Joong. Of course the guards immediately went and stopped her, but it was too late. Everyone likes soccer so much so that we can come out to play soccer at our neighbourhood stadium even at 2am. We don’t have specific positions or numbers. Neighbourhood soccer is that everyone is mixed up together and swarm after the ball. There was once Xiah Junsu suggested making uniforms with numbers on it and said ‘I want to have route 3’ and then we ‘gave up’ the idea.
2. Micky YooChun – Although didn’t get to meet frequently, he is a drinking (alcohol) companion who will come whenever you call even if it’s in the wee hours of morning. It’s good because we can meet without any pretence. Our nickname for each other is vulgar (?) words. When filming ‘Mischievous Kiss’, Micky YooChun is filming ‘SungKyunKwan Scandal’, thus we couldn’t monitor each other (drama work). 4. SS501 – Will release an album together next year. They are my brothers whom I must go together for my whole life. The nickname ‘pretty boy’ has followed him since his debut five years ago with idol group SS501 and became only further engrained into fans’ minds after he made his acting debut through, “Boys Over Flowers.” Even with his casting for “Playful Kiss” this year, the nickname stuck by his side like glue.
A rich perfect man named Jihoo and the cranky prodigy Baek Seung Jo. Both characters were the ideal men of the female leads, but also prettier than them as well.
However, as an actor burning with desire to try other roles, such a strong one-sided image isn’t always positive, as Kim Hyun Joong states, “People look at me and just think that my image is a ‘pretty boy.’ Since I’m now a rookie actor, I think they just give me roles that fit that look. I’m sure I’ll be able to try other roles next time.”
Kim Hyun Joong is divided into two: an actor and SS501’s leader. He grew as an SS501 member and now stands as one of the greatest Hallyu stars, attending events such as the “2010 Guangzhou Asian Games” and others.
“It made me look back at myself since I attended the event representing Korea. It was an honorable experience. They told me that just one side of the stadium held 100,000 audience members. It was quite the experience.”
Another nickname that was recently added beside his name was, “The 2nd Bae Yong Joon.” The star was personally scouted by top Hallyu star ‘Yonsama’ into Kaist Entertainment and seems used to the nickname now.
“They say that I resemble him in my smiles and in the way I manage myself. I must resemble him in some ways for them to say that, I suppose. I honestly don’t know. Whenever I meet hyung, we talk comfortably about acting and living… We’re not able to meet often because he’s busy.”
When asked about his thoughts on being the first leading role for a drama, he didn’t seem too disappointed about the lag in viewer ratings and believed it to be a personal advancement for himself. “It was harder than ‘Boys Over Flowers’ since I had to lead the entire drama on my own. There is a bit of disappointment but I want to grow and work harder in my next project.”
When asked to choose his favorite actors, he chose Yoo Hae Jin and Oh Dal Su. The two are famous for being the supporting actors in various films. “I’m definitely thankful in being able to play the lead roles twice in a row, but I think that supporting roles are great as well. If I like it enough, I won’t care about the importance of the role.”
But just because he began walking down the path of an actor doesn’t mean he’s giving up his dreams as a singer. He is actually preparing for his comeback with his first solo album due for release in the first half of next year.
“I can’t give up being a singer, which is why I’m preparing a solo album. I’ll be releasing one by the middle of next year and I’ve currently received about 200 different songs. Out of the 200, I chose about 5. You can check what kind of album it is when it comes out.”
Despite going through a rigorous schedule, he calmly states, “I’m happier than I am tired. I’m able to do the things I love. I’m no longer just following what others say, I’m actually planning my future and accomplishing things. I like planning, I’m always planning.”
When asked if he wasn’t granted the same freedom before, he replied, “It’s different from now. Back then, I had to do the things I was asked to since we were a group. Being in a group and being on your own is different.”
He continued, “I still keep in contact with SS501. They’re all busy so we’re not able to meet often but we haven’t disbanded. We can be together whenever we want. Actually, I’m not sure who started the rumor that SS501 will be releasing a group album next year. Even if we do, I want my solo album to be released first (laughter).”
When asked about his dreams, he hesitated before answering, “As a singer, my dream is to open a large-scale free concert and invite all of my fans. I have to do it some day.. As for my acting dreams, I want to be an actor that people anticipate the future of.”
What about his personal dreams? “I want to meet aliens and travel to outer space. If an alien came up to me right now and asked me to leave with him, I’d leave without any hesitations. Even if they wanted to do a live-body experiment on me, I will go with him.” He plans to travel into space one day no matter what. Having already traveled to the North Pole, he is hoping to visit the South Pole next as well.
The interview was concluded with one final question: If he had to choose between Baek Seung Jo and Jihoo, who would he choose?
“Definitely Jihoo. Seung Jo is smart, but he’s poor. If I was Jihoo, I’d be rich enough to travel to outer space.”
Actor/Singer Kim Hyun-joong revealed his thought about marriage.
Many people think about themselves after 10 or 20 years. Kim Hyun-joong is not that different.
Kim Hyun-joong said, “Actually, I thought I could get married well before 30's. Right now I don't have any girlfriend nor time for any romance, so my plan would not be successful.”
Kim Hyun-joong will be 26 years old in 2011. He just finished the shooting of 'Naughty Kiss', but has another foreign promotion schedule as well as album recording in May.”
He added, “I also have to go to army and go back to drama/movie to establish a solid foothold as an actor. When those plans are all done, I will be about 35 years old so I may get married when I'm 40.”
Kim Hyun-joong said, "Romantic acting makes my toes and fingers shrink... I want to do some tough guy roles"
"If I cared about the viewers rating, I would've done big dramss. I was really ok with my dramas".
'Naughty Kiss', which ended last October, was a total failure viewers rating-wise. Even though it recorded 8 million viewers for YouTube special version, TV version ended quietly.
Compare to the careful question, Kim Hyun-joong's answer was cool. “Everybody near me asked that I was okay, but I was really okay. I was because it wasn't the worst viewers rated drama. I told people that all I have to do is go up now.”
Kim Hyun-joong confessed that he also learned responsibility as an actor from this drama. “I learned how hard it was to lead a drama by oneself. I don't regret my work since I did my best. I love to have high viewers rating but I don't cling to it. I rather try to do a drama that I can proudly show to my son/daughter later in my life. 'Naughty Kiss' will be one of them.”
He also revealed his thoughts about classic mellow or action drama/movie. “Yoon Ji-ho from 'Boys over Flowers' or Baek Seung-jo from 'Naughty Kiss' are totally different character from me. Their lines are so cheesy. I think they were cheesy because those two dramas were school-based dramas. I want to do some other types of character for next drama. Someone who likes to yell and full of testosterone.”
SS501’s leader Kim Hyun Joong recently participated in the 2010 Asian Games opening ceremony in Guangzhou, where he sang the official theme song together with other famous Asian names.
On November 12th, the Hallyu star represented Korea as he sang ‘Sunshine Again‘ alongside famous singers Wei Wei (China), Tan Jing (China), David Tao (Taiwan), and Joey Yung (Hong Kong).
The theme song holds the meaning of never losing sight of your dreams and maintaining the friendship between Asian countries.
