CN Blue’s Japanses Single Album “Where You Are” Reaches #1 on Oricon Daily Single Chart

CN Blue’s agency FNC Music stated, “The second major single album ‘Where You Are’ which was released on February 1 sold 32,000 albums and reached #1 on the Oricon Daily Single Chart.” The songs “Where You Are” and “Feeling” was written and produced by Jung Yong Hwa. Lee Jong Hyun produced “Get Away.”

CN Blue also made a statement after they heard of reaching #1 on the Oricon Daily Single Chart. They stated, “After our major debut we have only released two singles but it feels like a dream that we reached #1 on the Oricon Daily Single Chart. We will keep trying our best to share good music with more people.”

CN Blue appeared on the rock festival “COUNTDOWN JAPAN” as the first non-Japanese band. CN Blue was also the first Korean singer to appear on the Japanese MTV “Unplugged.”

BIGBANG excited 100000 fans in Japan tour…Returning home today

The five-men idol group BIGBANG has finished their Japan tour with a powerful stage without leaving any regrets.

On 19^th, BIGBANG has held their concert in Nippon Gaishi Hall, Nagoya which marked the end of their ‘Love and Hope’ tour and they have finished it with great success.

BIGBANG started their 10-day Japan tour from Osakajo Hall of Osaka, Makuhari Messe of Chiba to Nippon Gaishi Hall of Nagoya. They have performed a total of 8 times in these 3 places and there have been about 100000 fans who have gone to watch their concerts.

BIGBANG has mesmerized the fans in this tour with their uniquely free stage manners. Besides the songs that they have released in Japan, they have also introduced their latest songs which were released in Korea , ‘Tonight ‘ and ‘Love Song’. Moreover, each member has displayed their individuality on their solo stages.

The members of the top group in Japan, AKB48 and other local celebrities, such as the producers of broadcasting stations, etc have also attended the concerts, we can see their concerts have attracted a lot of attention from many people whom have written their reviews about the performance in their own blog.It has also become a hit topic.

When they were having their concert tour, they have released their second Japan regular album which has topped the daily and weekly chart of Oricon. They have enjoyed a double doses of happiness for their brilliant results.

Kara surpassed BoA and ranked the top on the chart for two weeks

On the 6^th, “Jet Coaster Love” gained popularity…girl group Kara surpassed Boa’s 355,000 copyright sale record breakthrough countdown.

On the 20^th, Japan’s record association announced the charged copyright citation stating that with only two songs “Mister” (150,000) and “Jumping” (100,000), they hit over 250,000 in sales. If the most recent 3^rd single “Jet Coaster Love” is added on to this, the record will most likely go over 300,000.

Kara dominated Oricon’s chart with their 3^rd single on the 12^th and was recognized as a strong seller in album sales. However, their strength only made them stand out more in Japanese album sales. This is easily observed upon looking back at their history.

During the last 11 years of pursuing her singing career, Boa sold 355,00 albums with only 6 songs. It is predicted that Kara will easily surpass this kind of record. They have already hit 250,000 with 2 songs and the performance of “Jet Coaster Love” dominated 1^st in Japan’s main charts the past 2 weeks including Reckchalkoo, Mora, Musico, and Music Japan and continue to raise momentum. Kara’s rival Nisiko Kana made 1st place with 500,000 sales last year in album sales, but their recent momentum seems to make it more worth the effort.

In the case of “Mister”, the division record ringtones of Boa’s “Winter Love” made a record tie of 75,000. In the PC distribution sector, Japan’s advanced national singer first time “Mister” and “Jumping” such two songs were rated platinum at 25,000 album sales. Even Dong Bang Sing Ki (5 songs and 105,000 sales) and Girl’s Generation (2 songs and 80,000 sales)  could not be compared to Kara’s record sales.

One entertainment official stated “Kara and other national female artist groups’ success in album sales and top placement in source charts are proving Japan’s young generation that Korean Pop music is gaining a lot of popularity”.

FTIsland, Swept Oricon Chart at 2nd Place

Korean band, FTIsland, have got their new single up on the ranks of the Oricon Daily Chart at the 2nd position.

Their 4th single that was released in Japan on the 20th, recorded an album sales of 17,665 copies on the day itself and was ranked 2nd place on the Oricon Daily Chart. They were positioned right after Johnny’s Kanjani8, showing their outstanding results.

Their album title song “SATISFACTION” was also selected to be the ending theme song of the current airing anime “Toriko”, generating high expectation from the public.

Song titled, “Friends”, which is recorded in the same album has a pop feel, giving prominence to the melody line. “I want” also features Song Seunghyun’s raps. Choi Jonghun also participated in the composition of both songs.

According to FNC Japan, “Ranking 2nd place on the Oricon chart is the first time for FTisland. Slowly increasing their level of recognition leads to their success. We will do as much as we can to support them in their activities in the future.”

On the other hand, prior to their outstanding Oricon chart results, member Lee Hongki also received positive reviews on his acting skills in the TBS drama “Muscle Girl”, which has started airing on the 19th. It all calls for a celebration.

Big Bang’s ‘4th Mini Album’ appears on the Oricon Charts

After a two year hiatus, Big Bang finally released their 4th mini album, “Tonight” back in February. The Japanese edition of this album was just released on April 13th and it made an appearance in the second slot of today’s Oricon Daily Chart.

The album was right under “The Apples” and sold a total of 3,454 units on it’s first day. Congratulations to Big Bang.

Beast beats Big Bang in Japan

Idol group Beast has broken records in Japan set by the "untouchable" group, Big Bang.

According to Oricon Style's homepage on March 22nd, "Beast's debut single "Shock" has sold about 29,000 copies in just one week, ranking them second on the Oricon Daily charts."

This is even better than the group Big Bang who ranked third on the same chart in June of 2009 with their debut single "My Heaven". That was the best record set until now; for one year and nine months. Beast's new record is the best of any foreign Asian artist.

Beast had planned on releasing their debut album, following that up with active promotions and a concert. However, with the recent earthquake, plans have been put on the back burner for now.

After completing their first two headlining concerts in Korea, each of the members are currently focusing on individual activities.

Big Bang's concert completely sells out

Boy band Big Bang's upcoming annual concert, set to accomodate some 40,000 fans, has soldout after attracting over one million people rushed to a website to grab tickets, according to the group's agency YG Entertainment on Friday.

A press release by YG revealed today that the tickets, sold in three separate rounds from Tuesday to Thursday on online shopping and reservation site G-Market, attracted 250,000 fans the first round, then 300,000 the next round and 450,000 the final time.

Big Bang's "2011 BIG SHOW" is set to be staged at Seoul's Gymnastic Stadium of the Olympic Park from February 25 to 27.

Big Bang members expressed their gratitude for the enthusiastic response for their upcoming concert through the statement and added they have been preparing a lot for both the upcoming concert.

Most importantly, the concert will mark Big Bang's much-anticipated return to the K-pop music scene for the first time in over two years - their third full-length album will be released on February 24.

Big Bang is currently active through its unit activities composed of duo G-Dragon and TOP and solo Seungri under which both teams have released their first albums titled "GD & T. OP" and "VVIP," respectively.

Known as one of the biggest idol names in the country, the group composed of members G-Dragon, TOP, Seungri, Daesung and Taeyang, had released a number of smash-hit songs which swept music charts for several weeks.

Then in the summer of 2009, Big Bang crossed over to the Japanese music market where several of their singles placed in the top slots of the prestigious Oricon chart.

Starting May, they will hold a nationwide tour where they are expected to perform for a total 160,000 fans.

TVXQ #2 in overall Japanese sales despite controversy and non promotions

Japanese statistics and music information company Oricon recently released an article titled “Idols and K-POP bring the sparkle to music industry with new movement.” The article contains sales data from December 28th, 2009 to November 22nd, 2010 and talks about how expectations for singles sales in Japan was expected to go down. Despite the negative projections, singles sales actually went up due to Arashi, K-Pop groups such as TVXQ and the girls groups (KARA, SNSD), along with the surge of AKB48.

What was surprising in the article was the sales figure chart which showed that TVXQ was 2nd in overall sales for 2010, only behind Arashi despite the lack of promotions and controversy the group faced in 2010.
The group had controversy with the JYJ / SM Entertainment conflict and the halting of activities through Rhythm Zone / Avex. Despite this they had a astounding total sales amount of 9,411,500,000 yen (over $112 million). Single album sales amounted to 777,200,000 yen, Album sales amounted to 1,690,000,000 yen, DVD sales amounted to 4,604,500,000 yen, and Blu-Ray sales amounted to 43,700,000 yen.

U-KISS lands on the Oricon Charts

Last week, the boys of U-KISS successfully held their first independent Japanese concert in Osaka.

Continuing on this success in Japan, the boys released their first Japanese album, “First Kiss” which sold a total of 5,409 units. This was good enough to place them second on the Oricon Daily Album Sales chart. In addition, their DVD, “Seoul Train with U-KISS” placed seventh on the Oricon Daily DVD Sales chart.

BEAST, "Being on top of the Oricon chart is our goal"

BEAST, who had passed a year since debut, is starting a new bigger adventure.

BEAST (Yoon Doojoon Yong Junhyung Jang Hyunseung Yang Yoseob Lee Kikwang Song Dongwoon) opened their showcase on the 27th at the Toyko Big Sight located in Ohdaiba Tokyo with 10,000 people. It was a time for them to meet the fans before their official debut in Japan. With 40 different Japanese media attending the event, it was able to capture attention from the public.

Hong Seungsung President of BEAST’s management Cube Entertainment stated, “This year, Korean female groups made their stance in Asia. Now I believe that an Asia star will soon be like a world star. Along with the start of this showcase, I will make an effort to have BEAST and 4minute catch up in the Asia market as well.”

Suzuki Ahchusi, FET CEO of Universal Music, who is charge of BEAST and 4minute activities in Japan commented, “I believe that Korean female groups play a big role in starting the KPOP craze in Japan. I still remember first meeting with Lee Kikwang who was under the stage name AJ during the June of 2009. I will make it so that Korean stars can now not only debut in Japan, but make it so that they can fully accustom in Japan.”

BEAST revealed their thoughts regarding the “human letter” event at the press conference. Earlier that day BEAST arrived in the helicopter to the performing stage, they were greeted by 4,800 fans holding up a red sign in the formation of the word ‘B2ST’. Yang Yoseob stated, “I am touched. My heart was overflowing. Japanese fans are the best.” He added, “I saw one fan in a wheel chair participating in the human letter. If I get the chance, I really want to meet this person.”

BEAST had proudly placed their name on the Oricon chart as 6th place in the Japan Prenium Edition CD that was released on the 24th. BEAST commented, “We had no idea that we would receive so much love from an album in Korean instead of Japanese, we wonder what it would be like if our official album comes out. Our goal is definitely reaching the top of the Oricon Charts.”

Currently promoting their 4th mini album ‘Beautiful’, BEAST will be releasing their album in Japan and will be officially making their debut in February of next year. Before, they will be having their first solo concert in Jamsil Indoor Stadium on December 12th.

Next is the Q&A portion.

- We heard that you guys visited Japan in the summer. How do you feel about this solo performance?
▲ (Dongwoon) We are really happy. Since we prepared hard, please watch us nicely.
(Doojoon) After hearing that all 10,000 seats were sold I playfully thought to myself, “I wonder if there will be anyone coming thinking of something else.” Hopefully it won’t be like that. (Laughs) It is our first time introducing the six of us together in Japan. They say that the start is the half way mark, so we want to make our start a successful one.

- You guys arrived by the helicopter and fans greeted you guys with the B2ST logo. What do think about that?
▲ (Yoseob) I am touched. My heart was overflowing. Japanese fans are the best. I’m thankful. I saw one fan in a wheel chair participating in the human letter. If I get the chance, I really want to meet this person. We were in the air for about 20 minutes and I was really surprised. It makes me want to back.
(Doojoon) I heard that 4,800fans participated in the human letter event. I knew that they were preparing for it, but I didn’t know it was going to be that much people. In between the grey building the red letters appeared. You could have even seen it far away. The fans and the helicopter was connected so every time we spoke, the fans started to cheer.

- On stage you guys were with the actual beasts, the lion and the tiger. How did that feel?
▲ (Hyunseung) Since this was our first showcase in Japan, we considered all the aspects of it. Pondering the ways to show off an insightful stage, we thought to show off our strong side by putting up the lovely beasts on stage. We hope that everyone would enjoy the stage with good feelings.
(Doojoon) Since the first impression is important, we decided to get the beasts on stage. I thought it was going to be fake, but I was so surprised with I saw it moving in the back. It was my first looking at the tiger and the lion up close like that. Instead of the strong and powerful image, we want to approach everyone truthfully like in Korea. Now I think it is up to us. We will work hard will all we got.

- You guys didn’t even release a debut album and I heard that you guys entered the Oricon chart. You guys must have your own thoughts about it.
▲ (Doojoon) I found out because the fans posted it on a fansite. I was even more fascinated because it was a Korean album instead of it being in Japanese. I started to get greedy with the will to work hard.
(Junhyung) I was resting from practice for a bit, but Yoseob came in a told me the news. I started to practice again with even more strength.

- What do you think are the charms to win points from the fans in Japan?
▲ (Hyunseung) I think Japanese fans like the 6 different styles of audio, video, music, choreography, and dance. In addition, I think the Japanese fans love BEAST’s music. Even though we didn’t formally introduce ourselves to Japan, but seeing how well we did in the Oricon chart, it makes me think that we might receive even more love if we officially debut.

- Is your goal the top of the Oricon chart?
▲ (Doojoon) That is correct. This is the is same case in Korea, but we will head for the top in Japan as well. We always have the courage.

- When you guys officially debut in Japan in February of next year, you guys will be probably singing songs in Japanese. How are you studying Japanese and we wonder if you guys have a favorite Japanese phrase.
▲ (Doojoon) It’s been a while since I studied Japanese, but because of the busy activities I couldn’t memorize it. My favorite Japanese word is ‘Okangkidesuka’ (How are you doing?) from the movie ‘Loveletter’.
(Dongwoon) We are getting Japanese lessons in between our actitivies in Korea. My favorite Japanese word is ‘Ietadakimas’ (Thank you for the meal).
(Yoseob) I am studying hard. These days since I don’t get enough sleep I even get my Japanese confused. My favorite Japanese word is ‘Ohyaseumisai’ (Have a nice sleep). I want to sleep.
(Kikwang) BEAST is doing well in their Japanese lessons. My favorite Japanese word is ‘Daiseuki’ (I like it the best). I like saying ‘I like it the best’ the best.
(Hyunseung) I want to study Japanese so I can talk to the fans. My favorite Japanese word is ‘Kawaii’ (Cute).
(Junhyung) I am studying Japanese hard. Next time we are back we will be much more improved. I like ‘Ohhayo’ (Hello) the best.

- Waiting for the showcase to start, we saw some male fans too. Why do think they are here for BEAST instead of a female group?
▲ (Doojoon) Hyunseung plays a big role in it. Even in Korea, there are male fans that scream out ‘Hyunseungie hyung’ even when Girls Generation pass by in front of them. Overseas Hyunseung has a lot of male fans. I have no idea why, but I guess they think he is the prettiest. (Laughs)

- In Japan you guys are being called the ‘beast group’. What do you think about this?
▲ Honestly, BEAST wasn’t named to fit the ‘beast-idol’ group image. It was made because we wanted to say that we will show off a strong performance on stage. But this was then the ‘beast-idol’ popularity was rising. We get referred to ‘beast-idols’ a lot, but off stage we are just naïve kids. Not some ‘beastly-idol’. (Laughs)

- In the future will BEAST be both in Japan and Korea, or will they be in Japan? We are wondering able their future activities.
▲ (Hong Seungsung President) Their official album debut will be in February of next year. Later next year they will be active with an album in Korea as well. I believe that now the music market is shifting to Asia. Asia star is basically a world star. BEAST will be planning for markets in all of Asia, Europe, and America with Universal Music. Next year they will be focusing on Korea, Japan, and Southeast Asia. Probably by next year, we will be having some results.

BEAST ranks at No. 6 on Oricon chart with Japanese album

Korean idols BEAST have entered Japan's prestigious Oricon chart with their first album in the country.

The group's first Japanese album "BEAST-Japan Premium Edition," which was released yesterday, came in at No. 6 on the daily Oricon chart as of Monday. 

"BEAST-Japan Premium Edition" is composed of a special CD and DVD that features a never-before-seen video of the members. 

The boys will officially kick off their activities in the country with a showcase in Tokyo on November 27.

BEAST, composed of members Dujun, Hyunseung, Dongwoon, Gikwang, Yoseop and Junhyung, made their debut in October 2009 with their first mini-album "BEAST IS THE B2ST." 

The boys recently returned to the local music scene with their new album "Lights Go On Again" and have been promoting its title track "Beautiful" which has topped various online music charts since its release in early November. 

They are also preparing for their first concert "WELCOME TO BEAST AIRLINE" which will be held next month.

BEAST’s Japanese Debut Album Lands On The Oricon Charts!

On November 24th, BEAST‘s first Japanese album debuted at number 6 on the Oricon Daily Album Charts.
Their special album is called BEAST-Japan Premium Edition and it includes a DVD along with two of their mini-albums.

BEAST will officially debut in Japan at a special event on November 27th at the Tokyo Big Sight (Tokyo International Exhibition Center) which has a capacity of 10,000 people.

As rookies in Japan, this is an enormous accomplishment and the Japanese media have even compared the group to Tohoshinki and Big Bang.

In Korea, BEAST will be holding their first solo concert on December 12th which has already sold out.

Supernova releases their “Shining Star” MV!

The six-member idol group, Supernova, have been dominating the Oricon charts by landing in the top 5 spots with almost every single they’ve released thus far.

They’ve just unveiled the MV for their newest Japanese single, “Shining Star“, and we’re pretty sure their ‘pelvic dance’ will become a hot topic (or at least a hot dance to emulate).

Big Bang's DVD reaches No. 1 on Oricon chart

 

A DVD by Korean boy band Big Bang has reached the No. 1 spot on Japan's prestigious Oricon chart.

According to Oricon's weekly music DVD chart, Big Bang's latest DVD "BIGSHOW BIGBANG LIVE CONCERT 2010" ranked in first, selling about 15,000 copies since going on sale in the country on October 27 and came in second in terms of DVD sales for all categories.

This will be the second time for the boys to celebrate placing on the chart; they topped the chart with their DVD "2009 BIGBANG LIVE CONCERT 'BIG SHOW'" in August of last year.

Meanwhile, the weekly music DVD chart also revealed that the "2009-2010 BIGSHOW MAKING DVD & BOOK SPECIAL REPACKAGE" positioned itself at No. 3.


The five-member group recently held a hand-shaking session at Fukuya Bookstore in Japan for the release of their book "Electric Love Tour."

Known as one of the most popular boy bands in the country for their music and fashion, Big Bang made their debut in 2006 and successfully crossed over to the Japanese pop market last June.

They will take the stage with fellow YG Entertainment labelmates such as 2NE1, Se7en and PSY for the two-day "2010 YG Family Concert" early next month.

Gee Syndrome has officially started in Japan with SNSD's Gee debuting 2nd in Oricon

The "Gee Syndrome" has started in Japan.

On the 20th of October, SNSD's Second Japanese single "gee" was officially released and it debuted in the Oricon's Daily singles chart at number 2!

SNSD's debut Japanese single "genie" debuted in number 5 at the oricon daily singles chart. It seems that Gee is making an even bigger success after "genie". SNSD showed off their slender legs and youthful charms attracting the local fans on their Japanese version of "gee".

Meanwhile, SNSD will make their comeback in Korea with the release of their third mini album "Hoot" on the 27th of October.
