YG's CEO finds the imitations of his voice entertaining
at
15:32
The voice imitation of YG Entertainment's CEO, Yang Hyun Suk, has been a popular variety show item for YG artists such as Big Bang, Se7en, 2NE1, and Gummy.
For the first time, the CEO himself spoke up on his voice imitations with Star News on January 12th by stating, "I've definitely seen our artists imitate my voice on a variety of variety programs. They've never done it once in front of me, so seeing them do it on variety programs made me think, 'Ah! So that's what they do when they hang out on their own.' But of course, I don't feel that it’s offensive at all. It's actually quite funny."
When asked to choose those he thought imitated him the best, he chose Psy, and Big Bang's G-Dragon and Seungri.
He reasoned, "I did see Jiyong and Psy imitate me on a broadcast program, and I laughed at how well they imitated me. Seungri did it at our YG Family concert last year and I thought he pulled it off quite well."

YG Family Concert: YG Has Come a Long Way
"Eun-joo, I love you," a man confessed during the "YG Family Concert" held in Jamsil Olympic Gymnastic Stadium in Seoul on December 5. It is the man who sang "Smoke of The Devil" but not it's original singer Yang Hyun-suk, the owner of YG Entertainment ("YG" in short) but Seungri from boy band Big Bang. Before and after that, another Big Bang member Daesung sang Wheesung's "With Me" and T.O.P and G-Dragon performed Jinusean's "Phone Number." Till the very end of the show, the first generation of YG singers such as Yang, Jinusean and Teddy did not appear on stage but the three-hour concert was already packed enough with hit songs by singers such as Gummy, Se7en, Big Bang, 2NE1 and PSY. 15 years has passed since YG Entertainment has launched and it has certainly grown large.
But the "YG Family Concert" was not about scale. The real fun lied in its diversity; from Yang Hyun-suk's "Smoke of the Devil" to 2NE1's "Can't Nobody," and from Gummy's "I'm Sorry" to PSY's "Entertainer." Each and every singer had something unique to offer. If it were Big Bang and 2NE1 that succeeded in eliciting shouts of joy from the crowd, the finishing touch came from Gummy and PSY who 'completed' the concert. While Gummy's powerful vocals as she sang "Loveless," with a rock arrangement, overwhelmed the crowd, her singing sentimental piece "We Should Have Become Friends At Least" with 2NE1 provided a rare moment of serenity to the excited stadium. The duet performance of "You & I" by Gummy and Park Bom also brought out kinship between senior and junior singers of YG Family followed by Big Bang's performance. PSY who had already performed with four other teams in the beginning of the concert, wrapped up the first half of the show with a bang by marking a climax with his songs "Entertainer" and "RIGHT NOW." PSY rightfully proved his ability to drive the audience wild, the rawness that differentiates him from the YG's past styles, confirming that he was the last piece of the puzzle that the YG Family needed.
Secrets of YG Family's Power: Diversity
SM Entertainment is a village of idols. JYP Entertainment is a nation that Park Jin-young set up. And YG is like one big family that allows different people come together. From Yang to Min-ji of 2NE1, YG has continuously expanded its horizon while at the same time, maintaining its identity. To show the world that there is more to YG than just hip-hop music, they admitted Gummy, Wheesung and Big Mama and in the era of idols, the company introduced Big Bang and 2NE1. Most singers that join YG tend to stay there for a long time and take part in managing the company years later or become producers themselves while singers with different characteristics walk paths of their own choices.
When the crowd cheered for G-Dragon and T.O.P as they sang to "Ppuk-i-gayo," one of the tracks to their upcoming joint-project album, it was not just their star quality that made the crowd go crazy. They created images for themselves through individual projects, developing on their musical tastes through singles released outside of their five-member group. The sharp and fancy rap of G-Dragon and the heavy, rough rap by T.O.P complemented each other perfectly; as was the stage performance in which G-Dragon busily roamed around the entire stage while T.O.P. stood still but knew when to strike with a memorable gesture. That is why they are family -- not because they are the same but because they are different, because they create synergy when Gummy and Park Bom, or G-Dragon and T.O.P. are put together. And what ties them together can ultimately goes down to YG's history of maintaining a family-like structure. When Se7en started singing "Please Come Back" and wore Heelys in the middle of the song, the audience cheered at him. YG's identity lies in the fact that Se7en has remained with YG since his debut in 2003 and was the main speaker for the encore performances.
Dazzling, diverse but in focus
YG Family's tradition of strong individuality stemmed from Yang Hyun-suk, on the other hand, was also a setback for the latest concert. Because the stage had to cover singers of all genres, it was impossible to go any further than making the stage large enough for running around. The job of sound mixing was tricky given the different style of each singer and how they mix MR with live band depending on the song. So while the stage did an excellent job of bringing out powerful sounds like drums and electric guitar that clearly differentiated the high and low tones, it left room for improvement on bringing out the details of those sounds. And many times, the vocals of the artists got lost in other sound effects.
But that being said, the "YG Family Concert" by all means was not the kind that becomes less appealing because of a couple of problems. Big Bang practically flew about the stage, while T.O.P brought the house down by occasionally getting so close to the audience that he practically stuck his face in front of theirs. Se7en led his stage with ease and suaveness, presenting songs which were a well-made mixture of dance number and R&B. And as for PSY, he just drove the audience to the hilt with few words. The stage drew the best result it could given its limit as a joint concert. The screen on stage, where black was used a bit too much, boasted high quality while the giant screen in the center adorned imagery that suited each stage. The splendid harmony of lights and colors at every corner of the stage, thanks to the efforts of the stage producers, helped create the mood for the concert. This coupled with light sticks shinning either for Big Bang or Se7en showed the concert the way it is -- dazzling, diverse, but staying in focus. And yes, this is how far YG, or rather its family, has come.

The YG family wraps up a successful ‘2010 YG Family Concert’
at
13:35
After much anticipation and hype amongst fans, the YG Family of 2NE1, Se7en, Gummy, Big Bang and Psy, finally came together to passionately hold a fun-filled ‘YG Family Concert’ for their fans to enjoy.
On December 5th at 7PM, 12,000 spectators began to gather in front of the Seoul Olympic Gymnastics Stadium, all itching to get inside. Combining both nights of their two-day concert, the YG family managed to gather a total of 36,000 spectators, with both nights being completely sold out.
2NE1 had the honor of kick starting the night with their overflowing energy. They began with ‘Fire‘, followed up by ‘Go Away’ and ‘I Don’t Care‘.
As this was considered to be the group’s first official concert, Sandara Park expressed her delight as she said, “It’s an honor to perform with our sunbaes at this awesome concert.”
Following 2NE1 was Se7en, who came on stage to enthusiastically sing ‘Better Together’, ‘Passion’ and ‘Lalala‘. During his last performance of ‘Come Back to Me’, the singer came rolling out wearing shoes with wheels attached, making his fans cheer even louder.
Gummy was up next, and successfully calmed the atmosphere with her slow, emotional songs. Gummy amazed the spectators with her remarkable vocal abilities as she sang ‘Loss of Memory’ and ‘There is No Love’.
Big Bang continued the stage, and rejuvenated the mood once more with their hit tracks ‘Gara Gara Go’, ‘Lies’ and ‘Hands Up’.
It was then time for the ‘Emperor of Concerts‘ to seize the stage – the one and only Psy. The veteran started off with a bang with ‘Delight’, followed by ‘Celebrity‘, ‘Paradise‘ and ‘Right Now’. The whole stadium was on their feet during Psy’s performances, dancing ever so passionately with the singer.
The 2nd half of the concert showcased both solo performances and collaborations of the YG family members.
G-Dragon and T.O.P’s cover of Jinusean’s ‘Phone Number‘ and Se7en, T.O.P, G-Dragon and Taeyang’s cover of 1TYM’s ‘Hot Ddegeo’ received an explosive response from the spectators.
YG’s two representative idol groups, Big Bang and 2NE1, then followed up with their collabo track ‘Lollipop‘, creating a warm and friendly atmosphere.
One of the best highlights of the concert was undoubtedly G-Dragon and T.O.P’s duo performance. Having already stirred their fans with their surprise performance at the ‘2010 MAMA‘ in Macau last week, the duo showcased their unique charms and sexiness with their passionate performance.
After three exhilarating hours, the 2010 YG Family Concert finally came to an end at 10 PM. The spectators at the finale concert went home completely satisfied with YG’s fantastically arranged concert.

Suju Kim Heechul, the reason “Becoming a singer because of PSY?”
at
21:57
Idol band Suju Kim Heechul “Decided to be a singer, after seeing PSY.”, attracted attention.
On the 17th broadcast of MBC <Golden Fishery-Radio Star>, guest PSY showed his extraordinary eloquence.
This day, guest MC Kim Heechul, who self-claimed as a fan of PSY, stated “At home in 2002, (while) watching television programmes with my friends, PSY appeared. After seeing PSY who was singing “Champion”, (I) asked my friends “Want to try becoming a celebrity?” After which, (I) went for an audition in SM Entertainment.” Therefore, having the chance to debut, specifying PSY as the one who led him in becoming a singer, surprised everyone.
Towards MC Yoon Joon Shin’s question “Why did you decided to become a singer only after watching PSY?”, Kim Heechul could not answer and said “I love music originally.” The MCs then made a guess stating “Is it because of the mindset: ‘That person is also considered as a celebrity’?”, PSY became hyped up and said “I’m the one who brought huge hopes to those unspecified singers.”, bringing continuous laughter in the studio.
In addition, MC Kim Gura joked and said “When I saw PSY (as a singer), I thought ‘Indeed, it’s the end of the world.’ “, again enticing laughter in everyone.

Psy talks about G-Dragon
at
17:35

Psy mentioned in one of his recent interviews, "G-Dragon is the junior that I am looking forward to see in the future the most. Writing songs means that he is really concerned about music; that is why I am really looking forward to G-Dragon's future. He actually does ponder a lot about music. It's hard to find artists like him who are unique in music and in fashion. I am really looking forward to seeing his potential."

Super Junior’s unpredictable member Kim Heechul expressed his fondness and regrets towards Psy. Both Kim Heechul and Psy were special guest panelists on the show.
During MBC’s recent episode of Radio Star, Kim Heechul made an appearance and revealed his regrets over Psy joining YG Entertainment.
YG Entertainment is famous for producing some of the best Korean hip hop artists including Big Bang, 2NE1, Se7en and 1tym. Regarding the matter, Heechul talked about when he first met Psy many years ago and stated that he felt upset Psy didn’t come to his company SM Entertainment. Upon hearing this, MC Kim Gu Ra wittingly replied, “If Psy entered SM you don’t know but he would most likely cause an accident,” causing the guest members to laugh.
However, Heechul still didn’t give up as he commented, “It feels like losing Jegal-Ryang (famous military strategist and historical figure)… Ok, maybe not Jegal-Ryang but maybe someone below him.”
