Father of JYJ’s Park Yoochun and Park Yoohwan passes away

The father of JYJ‘s Yoochun and actor Park Yoohwan has been reported to have passed away.

On March 14th, industry representatives revealed that Park Yoohwan cancelled all of his recording schedules for his current drama, ‘Strongest K-Pop Survival‘. A representative explained, “We heard that his father passed away. For now, we have delayed all of his scenes.”

Yoochun’s representative added, “We also heard that his father passed away. It happened so suddenly so we’re not sure if he’s heard of it yet. Yoochun is currently on his way back from his concert in Peru and we haven’t been able to get in touch with him. He’s been feeling great over the success of JYJ’s South American tour so it’s really unfortunate to hear of this. We’re worried that he will be in shock upon hearing the news.”

Yoochun must make a stop in the States before returning to Korea, so there’s a considerable amount of time before the unfortunate news will reach him.

Park Yoochun's "Rooftop Prince" Holds First Script Reading and Camera Test

The cast and crew of SBS’s upcoming romantic comedy drama “Rooftop Prince” gathered at the Ilsan Production Center late last night, February 1, for the drama’s first script reading. Actors JYJ’s Yoochun ("Miss Ripley"), Han Ji Min ("Padam Padam"), Jung Yumi ("A Thousand Days' Promise"), Lee Tae Sung("Hooray for Love"), Lee Min Ho ("The Moon that Embraces the Sun"), Jung Suk Won ("Ojakgyo Brothers") and the rest of the cast met each other for the first time. Production director Shin Yoon Sub and screenwriter Lee Hee Myung also sat in on the reading. Prior to the reading, the actors participated in a camera test, where they wore their hanboks and zoned into their characters.

The drama is about a Chosun era Crown Prince (Park Yoo Chun) who travels 300 years to the present to reunite with his dead Crown Princess (Han Ji Min). Historical-fusion-contemporary-fantasy drama “Rooftop Prince” will premiere on SBS once Gu Hye Sun’s “Please Take Care of Us, Captain” ends mid-March.

Park Yoochun to become the next ‘Lee Seung Gi’ of endorsements

Actor and member of idol group JYJ, Park Yoochun, is being coined the ‘second Lee Seung Gi‘.

Park Yoochun recently filmed a TV commercial for a new ramen product produced by a famous company. The highlight of the commercial is when Yoochun captivates his lady fans with his killer smile and whispers, ‘kiss myun‘, playing on the name of the product. Netizens who saw the CF remarked, “How can I not buy that ramen“, “He’s so sweet. Going to buy ramen right now“, and more.

Yoochun has also endorsed popular game consoles as well as pharmaceuticals brands with his fellow JYJ members. The fact that he has been endorsing a wide variety of products proves that the advertisement industry has taken notice of him.

The reasons why he was able to be successful as a sole advertising model separate from his JYJ members is due to his healthy and sweet image. A representative from an advertisement agency informed OSEN on the 20th, “Yoochun does not have a unique face that necessarily stands out, but his face looks natural and healthy. He is an effective model because he is highly popular as a member of JYJ and he appeals to the young consumers in their teens and 20′s.”

Another advertisement source remarked, “He broadened his fan base after he started acting, appealing to not only teens but viewers in their 30′s and 40′s. There are a lot of cases where large corporations select him as their first choice when it comes to a CF model. It seems like he has been continuously receiving a lot of proposals.”

Yoochun seems to be second to only singer Lee Seung Gi who is the current ‘king of CF’s with his wholesome, likeable image. Just like Seung Gi is endorsing a wide range of products from clothing to food, the advertisement industry reportedly sees the same potential in Yoochun to be well-received by consumers of all ages.

JYJ Speaks Out #2 – Talking About Kim Jaejoong, Park Yoochun And Kim Junsu

Heodang (Lacking): Though Cha Mu Won of ‘Protect the Boss’ is a chaebol, there is definitely something he can’t do. His weakness is that he’s not good at fighting because all he does is lock himself up in his office and study. I expressed that in a very ‘heodang (lacking)’ way. I’m like that too. Because I’m not that active, I’m not that good at ball games. In the drama, I was made to look like I was even really good at sports, but in real life, I have a very ‘heodang’ nature. (Yoochun) I think it would be best.. if Jaejoong didn’t play ball games like soccer or basketball in front of others. (laughter)

Ji Sung: Even I could see myself getting better with every new episode. It would have been impossible if it weren’t for Ji Sung. He must have been busy enough studying his own character, but he took care of me and helped me run my lines. I think the scenes in which we were acting together came alive because I normally feel comfortable around Ji Sung.

Individual Activities: As you all know, we started pursuing individual activities to promote JYJ as we were unable to appear on music programs. Our individual activities became a great opportunity for us to promote JYJ. It started like that but we feel the charm of being an actor or a musical actor more and more as time goes on. (Yoochun) But personally, I don’t feel confident about pursuing a career in musicals. I think I’d be compared too much to Junsu. (laughter)

Park Yoochun

Cha Mu Won (Kim Jaejoong) of ‘Protect the Boss’: He took on his character very well. I found myself naturally falling into the drama as I watched it. I also feel envious of Jaejoong because he took on a character that could present something different from his original image and did so very well. It’s so much that if I ever get the chance, I’d like to play a character similar to the one that Jaejoong portrayed. I’m not joking when I saw that I could see this unknown aura around Jaejoong. So I thought, ‘So this is the power of Jaejoong. (Jaejoong) Thank you. My senior~

Song Yoo Hyun: While playing Song Yoo Hyun in MBC’s ‘Miss Ripley’, there were many moments when I thought, ‘If this were me, I would have exploded.’ But I acted with the understanding that, ‘It could happen because it’s Song Yoo Hyun.’ Though I can’t say that there weren’t moments when I felt frustrated, I laid down the judgment that it was because I was too unskilled in my portrayal of Song Yoo Hyun. If I felt frustrated, wouldn’t Song Yoo Hyun feel a little frustrated too? It was only after I was done filming the drama that I began to think ‘Couldn’t I have been able to express this in another way?’ instead of thinking that the script wasn’t helping with the frustration I had.

The villain’s part: I want to try playing the villain. I think the biggest reason is because I don’t look like a bad guy. Though I want to try taking on a role that pulls me away from the image I have now, I think it would only be right for me to take on such a role after I’ve become more experienced. For now, I want to try everything, regardless of the character.

Kim Junsu

Drama: It’s not that I’m not interested, it’s just that I had already taken part in two musicals this year and wanted to take a break instead of pursuing solo activities. And because each of the other members had his own schedules drawn for his respective drama, I believed it was only right for me to take that time to support them. I’d like to try acting in a drama someday. But it looked so tiring for Jaejoong and Yoochun to stay up all night filming, so I’m in a dilemma.

Together: We try to make every stage one that everyone can enjoy together. We don’t just show what we want to show and end the concert when we’re done, we try to work together with the crowd. We casually ask how they’re doing, and we immediately answer any questions they give us. Because there are a lot of restrictions on our activities that include broadcasted ones, we try to create a more free atmosphere when we meet with our fans and we work hard to satisfy them with our concerts. Though we like dramas and musicals, we started out as singers and we want to be singers forever.

Yoochun takes #1 Among Stars Who Seem Skilled At Reading Mind of Woman !

Group JYJ’s member Park Yoochun was picked as #1 among stars who seem as if they would be good at reading the minds of women.

Monkey 3, a website specializing in music, held a survey from the 29^th of last month to the 5^th of this month under the topic of: “Who is the star who seem as if they will be better at reading the minds of women than women?” The result had Park Yoochun, who garnered 1715 votes out of a total of 3730 (46%), take #1.
The netizens revealed as the reason for picking Park Yoochun: “He is very sensitive and considerate and so seems able to read the minds of women well.” For 2^nd place, Rain who will soon join the military (1383 votes, 27%) was picked, and for 3^rd place, John Park from the cable TV Mnet show Superstar K 2 was picked.

Other than this, group 2PM’s member Nick-kun, actor Hyunbin, entertainer Park Shihoo and such followed.
On the other hand, Park Yoochun will participate in the APAN Star Road that will take place on the 7^th at 9pm in Pusan’s Haewundae and APAN Party that will take place at 11pm in Grand Sky Hall.

JYJ discusses “In Heaven”, the meaning of ‘PSM’ & dreaming of Yunho & Changmin

On September 30th, the members of JYJ met up with reporters for their “In Heaven” press conference at a cafe in Jungdong, Seoul.  In a heartfelt interview, the men answered questions regarding TVXQ, their recent controversy with ‘PSM‘, and their hopes for the future.

Jaejoong began,

“First of all, this album is one that contains all of our memories and feelings over the course of the past two years.  It’s an album that has a lot of scents in it.  There are tracks that convey our honest feelings, as well as tracks that beat around the bush in expressing ourselves.  No matter how much we beat around the bush, though, those that have been with us through it all will know what to imagine while listening to these songs while the regular public will just listen to the song for what it is.  It’s an album with a passcode.  Like I stated, it’s an album that contains everything we’ve felt and done over the past two years.”

Junsu continued, “I worked on the album by conversing a lot with the other members.  It’s an album that shows the true colors of JYJ.  I believe that we were able to create such a great result because we regarded as the production of it as a positive opportunity and experience.”
Jaejoong added, “The reason we started our individual activities was to get the name of JYJ out there.  Since the three of us cannot go out on music programs, we had no option but to get JYJ’s name known individually.”


Junsu stated,

“We began our careers as singers and I hope that we’ll continue to eternally walk down the path of a singer.  Because we’re restricted in so many areas as singers, we decided to take the performance route.  Even if it’s hard to see us on TV, we’re trying to work with our fans by performing at events and fan meetings, as well as other small events.  Our focus is on creating an environment where we can communicate with our fans and enjoy the performance aspect of it together.  A concert is not just a place where we show what we want to show, but a place where we can converse with them.”

When asked what ‘PSM’ meant in their song “Pierrot“, Jaejoong stated,

“It’s weird that a song that’s not even our title track is worthy of being in the media headlines for not passing regulations, but it’s actually quite heartbreaking.  SBS actually asked us what ‘PSM’ meant, meaning that they’ll give us a chance even if it wasn’t okay to pass.  KBS, however, didn’t even give us that chance and just interpreted it however they wanted to, completely ignoring the creator’s intent.  That is so frustrating.”

He continued,

“PSM stands for ‘Performer’, ‘Success’, and ‘Museum’.  Everyone has a future and everyone hopes that their life can shine.  In order to accomplish that, however, they must borrow the strength of others since it’s not possible on your own.  They’re then physically taken advantage of by a museum that creates that success for you and at times you’ll find yourself acting something that you don’t want to do.  It’s a song about people that use innocent people that are only innocently searching for hope.”

Jaejoong stated, “A lot of time has passed.  The time we’ve spent apart might have created 
misunderstandings, but as for us, a lot of that has passed.  I just hope for us to all meet again.  Yunho and Changmin appear in my dreams often.  Once, all three of us dreamt of them at once.”

He continued, “I still don’t keep in contact with Yunho and Changmin.  Please let us contact them.”
Jaejoong also revealed that he might have the opportunity to see Yunho.  “The lighting director for Yunho’s drama, ‘Poseidon‘, is also the lighting director for ‘Protect the Boss‘.  He once told me to come and visit during an after party.  I might be able to see him then.”

JYJ’s Yoochun purchases a $2 million luxury villa with private garden!

JYJ member, Park Yoochun recently became a new resident of the rapidly growing celebrity neighborhood, UN Village located in Hannam.

Back in February, the singer/actor bought a 3,552 square feet luxury villa overlooking the Han river in the area.  The villa also contains a spacious, 1,067 square feet private garden.




It has also been reported that the villa costs around $2 million dollars.  Furthermore, Yoochun has yet to move into his new purchase.  He is currently investing hundreds of thousands of dollars to re-model the interior and has spent a lot of time constructing the garden.

A real estate agent provided further explanation of the residence and stated, ” Not only does the villa have an excellent view of the Han river, but is embedded with a top security system.  The area is perfect for celebrities as it is a very enclosed environment.“  The neighborhood also hosts other famous celebrities including actor Jung Jun Ho and singer Gu Jun Yeop.

A little over a month ago, JYJ’s JaeJoong was also in the news for his $3 million dollar luxury apartment purchase and thus, garnered a lot of interest from the public.  His penthouse which is attached to a terrace was reported to be approximately 3,197 square feet.  JYJ member Junsu also has a luxury residential complex in the same area and is a close neighbor of JaeJoong.
